“Today, I found out that an old friend had to put his beloved pet to sleep. It must be a horrible day for him, but let me give you the backround story….

This dog was abused before he came to my friend. He was underweight, had a very bad skin disorder and was very skidish from physical abuse. My friend took this dog into his home without question and gave him 3 wonderful years, until today. They both were given what they needed at a time when they needed it the most.

We are sad because we lose things that we love in this life. We need to stop everyday and remember the moments that make this life worth living.”

“I’ve been pretty sick the past couple days. Today I was trying to catch up on homework and studying that I had missed. I had been going at it for about 3.5 hours when I heard a knock opened the door, and my neighbor brought me a piece of cake and came in and sat and talked. it was nice to be able to take a breather and have someone think of me.”

Meet Couy Griffin. This modern day cowboy is on a mission.

By this point in my life, i’ve become quite accustomed to running into the unusual. In fact, it’s safe to say it’s attracted to me. This is the first time, though, that I have been truly impressed and awe-struck by someone. This site was created to for the passionate, the extraordinary, the unusual and the awesome - Cuoy’s trip is definitely that.

Couy has started a journey. He’s riding horseback from San Francisco all the way to Israel. (I am not sure how the whole Atlantic Ocean thing is going to work out.) Couy is an evangelist, of sorts, but not in the traditional sense. You won’t see him preaching from street corners, but instead, he’s quietly walking with Dixie and little Blackjack from city to city saying hello to everyone who crosses his path. Couy is happy to answer any questions sent his way - the unusual nature of his walk through cities invites questions. That’s when you find out what Couy, Dixie, and Blackjack are all about.

I stopped to ask him about his journey and he told me all about his love of Israel and more importantly, his devout faith. That got me thinking. It’s one thing to be passionate about something. It’s one thing to be truly religious. But it’s a pretty amazing thing to give up your life for a journey in the name of your God. No matter what your stance on religion, you have to admit, that’s pretty darn cool.

“I went to fill up at the local service station this weekend. While I
was waiting, a woman appeared. At first she startled me, as I didnt
see her coming. I had my door open when she approached and my guard was intantly up. She began telling me a long story of how she needed to get back to St. Stephens. She had had a family emergency and ended up at the hospital in my town. She needed gas money to get home. She pointed to a beat up van and added if I would give her the money and my address, she would mail it back to me. Normally, I am a huge skeptic, but for whatever reason, I dug in my purse and gave her 20.00. It was all I had in my purse at the time. I did not give her
my address as I didnt want her to try and return the money. I watched as the van pulled up to the pump and began filling up. I was feeling pretty good about everything until I saw another person in the van asking someone else for money. It was a big van, maybe they needed a little more to get them home? I have since found out that there is a scam going on and I got snuckered. The thing is, I really didnt. I did the right thing, and karma will come around to those who dont.”

“ok, so i was in nashville about to pick up my friends from the airport when i came across a guy stopped in the intersection. he had a shipment of big stones that had fallen out of his trailor into the intersection and they were all over the place. so my friend and i stopped and helped him pick them up and we went our ways…

…then i picked up my friends and proceeded in the direction that i thought was towards chattanooga only to realized a couple hours later that i had actually gotten onto I 40 instead of I 24 and was halfway to knoxville. i feel kinda dumb but it all worked out and we are here”

Why, hello.

August 26, 2007

I used to have a wordpress about whatever thought was bouncing around in my head. I forgot to write in it for months. I recently went back and read some of them…and they were depressing, to be frank. This got me thinking.

I’ve seen so many pictures, videos, web sites and read so many blogs, articles, entries. Almost ALL of them were depressing. Think about it. Even the news thrives on sensationalism…

This is my attempt to start a movement. To fight for this world. There is so much beauty. So many wonderful things happening every day. I hope I can share whatever daily miracle I run into. Even just a photograph can be proof of the beauty all around us. I invite you to email me, leave comments, or tell stories about what inspires you, suspends you in awe, or gives you hope.
